at the rinse stage this eveing. I have tried turning the unit off, then on etc. It will only operate now for a few seconds and only momentarily. ie if I start another new wash cycle, it starts filling ( hot or cold ) then stops. If I try to rinse, or spin, it starts to pump out the water that's still left from failure, then stops, starts, stops etc. Then, with all my attempts, it just beeps and displays a series of lights on the wash indicators as follows:
there are 8 lights... the 3rd, 5th, 7th & 8th are lit.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Even just the diag codes.

Do the diagnostics I've sent you and post back the error codehowever it looks like the Out of balance switch is RS

The error code in binary is 00101011 which is 43 in decimal.

The code book says
"OOB Switch Fault"
i.e. Out of balance switch

Primary Source: Mechanical. Check switch is free to move. Check wiring harness is not blocking movement. Check switch operates correctly when activated, replace switch if suspect. If signs of corrosion, replace switch and harness, and fit condensation kit if not already incorporated in top deck. Check smartdrive is level. Check bias spring is fitted.

Secondary Source: Wiring. Check harness to OOB switch is connected correctly. Check connected to normally closed position. Check for corrosion as above.

Tertiary Source: Motor Control Module. Replace.

I really am fortunate that this place is here for me, otherwise I have no idea how I would have found the info I needed. I hate guessing and "parts fitting", and I didn't have to. Thanks again, and I will post how I go after the part arrives...possibly today.

I was also wondering how I go about getting the condensation kit, as one of the connections was very badly corroded.

Very simple solution to contact corrosion - grease. Plenty on the switch contacts will keep the steam off, and it won't conduct. Your switch is in a little box, so any excess won't drip into the drum.

It gladens my heart to here such effusive praise for the best bunch of guys who only want to give great service and who happily go without reward to assist the unfortunate consumer who has to put up with the same crap products that we do.

Moisture and a constant voltage (albeit low voltage) causes corrosion.

Your model will not require a condensation kit

Your replacement switch may well be a upgrade to get around this problem.

Certainly put grease or vaseline on the switch terminals after pushing these on if the switch is not an upgrade.

A piece of heatshrink tubing with glue lining (JAYCAR Part No. wh5602 or larger Ph. 1800 022 888) would be a better option as grease may disrupt the low voltage as would a spray on corrosion prevention product such as WD40

The trick with any damp situation is:

1/. Turn off at the wall after each use

2/. Avoid steam from dryers or hot washes or hot water.

3/. Fit a surge divertor as used on computer power plugs

4/. Ensure touch pad is not cracked

5/. Heat the room if condensation (steam) is likely to occur

A stiff nylon brush where corrosion is and a spray with a WD40 style product (I prefer Inox) can resurrect an electronic board but again beware of spraying switches.
