Australian GW708 Motor-Controller earth connections

Postby T-Bone » Tue Oct 24, 2006 11:50 pm

HELP !

I renewed the OOB bracket, lever and microswitch on my GW708. However, when I replaced the motor contoller (removed so I could access the OOB components) I realised that there are 3 (three) Earth connectors and I don't know if they should be replaced in any particular order. All the other connections are quite clear in their locations due to plug shapes and sizes.

I would hate to short out the washer as my wife is not to be trifled with. Save me someone!

What are you like? :D Next time - diagram before pulling any wire.....

If you are certain that all three are earths, it won't matter specifically how you locate them. If you have a test meter, you should find that all earth points join together at damn near zero ohms resistance, so , providing they're attached, you're safe.

Power off whilst you do that though.

Penguin45.
Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Hi there Penguin45. To answer your question "what am I like ?", I'm a goose !

Thankyou for your reply though, I am properly grateful. I am certain that the 3 green cables are Earth connections as they were all plugged into an area on the Motor Controller with the "Earth" symbol engraved above it.

What puzzled me is that there were the 3 of them in a row and I just wondered about which might have gone where. What a silly I am.

However I do have another question if I may.

I have a leak from the Inlet Seal that slips into the Motor Controller unit and water is starting to pool in the top deck. As there is a delay on a new seal from interstate I was contemplating boring a small hole in the plastic of the Top Deck to avoid water finding it's way to the lowest point being the OOB Microswitch. I would fit a small drain tube to make sure the water would not trickle down the outside of the bowl and find the motor.

I know that electricity and water are not the best of friends, but if water did come in contact with the OOB Microswitch would it cause the Motor Controller Unit to short out or go bang?

Once again, thankyou for your wisdom.
