F&P IW810AU problems

Postby jaywalker » Wed Feb 04, 2009 11:33 pm

Hi everyone and what a great forum for those with wayward whitegoods!

Our 6yo Ituitive Eco IW810 went dead as a doornail on the w/end. We've had a fair bit of trouble in the past with this thing (it gets used a lot) Previously we had a boarder that worked for the local service agent so he used to fix it for us. Unfortunately our guru left us a while ago and went to greener pastures.

So anyway, I just assummed the problem would be the motor controller and picked up one yesterday (at great expense) from the local agent. After installing the new component a service code 45 appeared immediately at switch on and then this was followed by a service code 9. More on these shortly. I put the machine into a wash cycle and the solenoids started pulsating, at which point the wife informed me that it done this for about 5 minutes before dying the other day. Ok, now the penny drops and I go pull the old moter controller apart - see the pcb fuse and quickly check to confirm it has blown (and to rub salt into the wound I have the exact same fuses stashed away in my garage from my serviceman days).

Ok, so the problems are

I don't know what a service 45 code is. I'm hoping this will point me to the exact problem.
I know a service code 9 refers to sizing and somehow I managed to get to the menu, where the options are in mm e.g. 560mm, 600mm but I don't know how to get back there, what value I should set or how to save the changes

My next strategy (thanks to this great site) is to replace the fuse on the old MC and return it to service and test the door switch, OOB switch, Pump, Diverter and RPS in that order.

If anyone can fill in the missing pieces for me or provide additional advice I would be extremely appreciative - especially as the missus can't handwash for s**t and I'm sitting here this morning putting up with the smell of a really stinkty hand washed shirt.

Thanks

45 is a goosed display module.

Penguin45.
Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Thanks penguin. That's kinda weird, the display appears to be fine. Turns out the divertor solenoid was fried and o/c - so that explains the blown fuse. Just a tad ticked off that one has to buy the whole valve assembly as the solenoid is not sold by itself.

But, as luck would have it, I just went for a trip to the recycle centre at the dump and found exactly the same model washer so stripped every last bit of electronic doo-hickeys off of it including the motor, so now I will be armed with mostly working spares to do some serious trouble shooting.
