Integrated fridge-freezer, dishwasher and induction hob

Postby Arnold_Layne » Wed Jul 10, 2013 8:24 pm

Hello

I am getting a new kitchen fitted and need the following:

Integrated full height fridge-freezer (small freezer) or fridge with icebox to fit in a 60cm wide cabinet. Noise levels are important to me and I have found the Liebherr ICUS 3214 and Hotpoint HSZ3022VL, both 37dB. Everything else seems to create 39dB (20% more - sound levels double every 10dB).

Fully integrated slimline dishwasher, not as concerned about noise in this case :D but preferably user-friendly for my elderly live-in parent. I have seen Miele (not any specific model) praised on moneysavingexpert forum for their cutlery drawer. Ryder72, a kitchen designer who posts on mse, declared on 13/5/13: "BSH haven't quite perfected the cleaning performance of the VarioDrawer" (he recommends Miele instead). However the G4570 SCVi, the only fully integrated slimline on Miele.co.uk, does not appear to be one of the latest models and has the standard cutlery tray, not the 3D cutlery tray.

An induction hob which can be flush mounted over a 60cm deep cabinet (again preferably user-friendly for my mother in her 80s) - I have only researched this on the Which? website. They rank the Whirlpool ACM 847BA top out of 12 inductions including Siemens EH645TE11E IQ500, Neff T43T20 and T42D20 Series 2, although the Siemens and Neffs were all launched in 2009 and have since been replaced. Which says of the Whirlpool "We like the controls - rather than just plus and minus buttons to set the power, the Whirlpool comes with slide-touch controls that allow you to see exactly how hot each ring is." (The Whirlpool can be mounted flush).

Suggestions, views or any thoughts much appreciated - I am prepared to buy expensive products if they can justify the extra by reliability and longer life.

Hi Arnold,

I'll leave the rest to Don and others as they have a more rounded knowledge of the rest but, in respect to the above, don't believe the dB levels provide what they make out to for pretty much anything...

I can also tell you that very often, how that rating is achieved is not possible in a normal domestic setting, let's put it like that. Think, claimed MPG -v- real world MPG and you're on the right track only not as simple. ;)

Just saying, don't get too hung up on that one point because what you see is often not what you get as it were.

The Liebherr is, by far and away, the better unit. A world apart from what is in effect a glorified Indesit cabinet.

Hi Arnold

The 3D cutlery tray is restricted to selected full size machines only. Slimline to be fair is a lesser volume market therefore in the numbers game it would not be a viable retail proposition.

The 3D option only allows the tray to be in the centre to allow large utensils and the side trays can be pushed together to give extra space to the upper basket which on a slimline dishwasher would not make that much difference.

The Bosch vario drawer works just as well as the Miele IMO but the Miele is a much better crafted machine.

Regarding the hob I would take my " my elderly live-in parent " to my local electrical specialist and let her have some input into the decision making process that way she will feel more confident in using one. As for brands I always go for Bosch as my first choice followed by Gorenje.

HTH :D

Thanks K and Don - good advice.

K - I see what you mean about dB levels - Beko claim 32dB for theirs! (BC732) It's net capacity is a bit low though (a tiny freezer or icebox is fine but I prefer a good sized fridge - only shop weekly).

I've also found 2 Liebherr fridges with iceboxes, IK 3514 and IKBP 3554.

Looks like I'll have to consider Neff, Bosch, Siemens, Smeg, Electrolux, Hoover, De Dietrich and AEG (theirs has "separate cooling systems" if that is any advantage), if there is no way of knowing how much noise they actually make.

Have now decided to go for something frost-free; which rules out fridges with iceboxes.

The (frost-free) fridge-freezer for 60cm cabinet with the biggest fridge (claimed net capacity) I can find is the Electrolux ENN3153AOW / AEG SCT71900SO (228 litres). Next is the Zanussi ZBB28650SA (210L), followed by Smeg CR325PNFZ (201L), Miele KDN37132iD (199L) and KFN37452iDE (196L), Liebherr ICUNS3314 (199L), ICN3356 (198L) and ICN3366 (196L). The biggest on BSH's 3 websites has 189L. Please give me your thoughts.

Don, I am thinking about taking your advice and buying a Gorenje IQ641AC induction hob (features IQcook). They seem to be out since last year but I can't find a single review (in English): do you know anything about them? :D

Thanks

Hi

Liebherr fridge freezers are the best you can get, Miele refrigeration is also made by Liebherr. Bosch next, then take your pick from the rest

The IQ hob is a new model which is probably why there isn't much out there yet but with it's five year parts and labour warranty you can't go wrong IMO.
