Double oven - main oven cutting out - top oven ok

Postby Luigi » Thu Nov 29, 2007 4:06 pm

I have an Electrolux EOD984W approx. 9 years old.

Main oven cuts out completely (no heat/fan/light) after 30 - 40 minutes or so. Will re-start when cooled down somewhat.

Top oven will still work though and fan for controls is working fine.

Is there a separate thermal cut-out for each oven - if so then is this the likely cause?

Or could it be be the main oven thermostat or something else entirely??

Advice gratefully received.

There is a safety thermostat for the main oven mounted on the back - usually a white ceramic block with a coulple of wires. Given the passage of time before it trips, it may well actually be doing its job - you need to check whether or not the oven thermostat is cycling.

3115190-05/4 - safety cut-out
3111622-01/9 - main oven thermostat

spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to supply any parts required.

Power off if investigating.

Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Thanks for the advice. I replaced the saftety cut-out and all seems ok. Main oven run at 220c for an hour and all is fine.

Will borrow an oven thermometer to check main thermostat but I think it's ok.
