Oven light compatibility

Postby gunjin » Fri Jun 01, 2012 12:36 pm

Hi,
Complete newbie question (apologies) but I have bought a replacement 40w 230v 300degree E14 bulb which does not seem to work. Can I test it out in a separate oven with an 15w 230v 300degree E14 bulb or can I test the 15w bulb as a replacement for the 40w bulb in the first oven?
I am trying to work out whether the bulb or oven is faulty...
BTW, all other oven functions work fine in the 40w bulb oven.
Any guidance would save me time and money!

For a quick test it should be okay.

Thks, are you referring to trying both in each other's sockets or just one (if so, which way round 40w in 15w socket or 15w in 40w socket)?
Cheers

Actually dont worry, have just confirmed the bulb is fine so the next questions is why does it not work in the original oven when all the other oven functions do?

Bulb holder zapped? Wiring down from the main oven function control switch? Control switch itself?

Could be a number of reasons that the bulb doesn't light and the only way to find out is to go through it to find out why I'm afraid.
