Hi,

I hope someone can help with my query. I Have a Tricity built in oven. It has developed a couple of faults.

1, There was a small bang and now the oven doesn't heat up although the fan goes round and the other hot bits work, grill etc. I think I need a new element. Can anyone give advice on fitting it, how difficult is it to get to the works etc. No need to worry about competence and safety, I'm a time served electrician although that is not my current occupation.

2, The main dropdown door is sticking halfway down, you have to lift and twist to get it open. I think the hinge is wearing out. It also doesn't shut properly as heat escapes from atound the seal. Is it possible to replace the hinges? (do I need 1 or 2), how much taking apart is involved?

I've had the cooker about 7 years so it must be getting near the end of its useful life although it is still in good nick.

It's all a screwdriver job - fan oven element can be accessed by removing rear panel of oven, door is held together by a couple of screws at the bottom.

Element is p/no 3110231-00/2
Hinges - p/no 3112207-06/7
Hinge guides - p/no 3111468-00/9

Do both hinges and the guides where they fit into the oven body, saves you doing the others side in 6 months time.

Thanks for previous answer. I now need a bit more advice.

I've got the replacement brackets as suggested and I've taken the door to bits, but I cannot see how to get the door hinges out. I've pulled and twisted and lifted, but they won't move.

Will I have to taken the oven out and try to attack it from the side? Or has anyone an exploded diagram or engineers instructions available so that I can see how to remove it.

Um, have you dismantled the door in situ? Normally, with the door pulled fully down, there are a couple of latches or twist discs to actually lock the hinges, thus allowing the whole door to be lifted clear then be dismantled.

If you have bought the hinge guides as well, the oven will have to be removed from the housing to allow fitting - get some help; double ovens are damned heavy.
