Spare parts for appliances from UK Whitegoods

Hi there,
I have inherited a Zanussi ZHF 470 Double Oven moving into my house. Shortly after arriving the fan oven stopped working so I checked the websites and worked out the element had gone - it was pretty obvious when I took off the housing! I replaced the element and oven was working straight away.
6 months on the oven has stopped working again. I opened the element case and the element had once again gone - totally charred and broken. This new element only lasted 6 months and we don't over work the oven. I have ordered a new element to replace it again but I'm wondering coupled with this there is another issue. My thoughts are either:-
1. The thermostat has gone and this needs to be replaced. I have to say until breakage two the heat seemed to be fine.
2. When putting in the element I am not 100% sure I conected the two wires at the back correctly on each rod. I lost the wires through the back of the oven so when I pulled the whole thing out I may have connected it the wrong way round. If my memory is correct I think there is one blue one red.....is one top and one bottom or doesn't matter?
3. The only other thought is we didn't exactly keep the oven overly clean. Could a build up of crusty food casue a problem.
4. Its old....get a new oven!
Any ideas is greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Rich

hi
is the fan motor working?
if the motor is not working or running slow it will cause the fan element to overheat and burn out

hi there,
thanks for the response. the fan motor is not working at present. However last time the element went the fan didn't work until I replaced the element. In fact, when I turn the oven on the light doesn't even illuminate or start. This was the same last time until I replaced the element.
Thanks
Rich

Replace the element again Rich then see how it goes. Elements are a very week point and don't last long at all. 6 months out of one ain't all bad especially if we are talking 'non-genuine' parts here?

Hi there,
Thanks for all the advice. Yes, the previous element was non genuine. I am sure the light and fan didn't work last time it went....the fan certainly didn't. I'll change the element and see how I get on.
Thanks
Rich
