Problem with Hotpoint Aquarius DWF30

Postby ironside » Sat Dec 29, 2007 2:16 pm

It appears that my DWF30 is refusing to end a program that it is running. I have pressed the cancel buttons and the "END" light comes on, but it continues making the general noise it makes when ending... without actually ending.

I have tried turning it off and back on, but it immediately makes the same noise, but without actually cleaning.

This means I cannot start a new program and my dishes are piling up. If this carries on, I will have no alternative but to throw them away and buy some new ones. I'm sure there used to be another way of cleaning plates etc, but I can't remember what it is now :)

I have looked for the model number by the way - can't find it anywhere! Not inside the door, on the side etc.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Fortunately your machine is a Bosch produced machine as opposed to the current Indesit stuff masquerading as Hotpoint so it is a decent machine, worth repairing.

The most likely cause of this fault is a build up of gunge in the heat exchanger/fill matrix or the hose from the matrix into the sump.

This is a result of using the machine as a waste disposal unit instead of a dishwasher  A good rinsing of the dishes is advisable before placing them in the machine and regular use of a dishwasher cleaner also helps.
Access to these components is not easy, also the blockage in the heat exchanger is almost impossible to remove and a new unit is the only cure.

Jim.

PS. DWF30 is the model number. :)

Drain pump running? If the flood protection system is operating (polystyrene float in the base), the drain pump will run if the power is on and over-ride any attempt to programme or re-set the machine.

Cut the power, throw some towels down and lean the machine back. If you get water running out, the machine has leaked. If the problem recurs, you'll have to find out where from.

Penguin45.
Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

P45 is of course correct, a flooded base will also give the same symptoms. 8)
