siemens waterhammer

Postby andrewdishwasher » Sun Apr 03, 2005 11:33 am

hello, I have a siemens dishwasher SE26261GB about 3 years old.
it has started a waterhammer at the end of the initial fill with cold water.

is this a problem with the inlet valve?
i have tried reducing the mains pressure and the appliance pressure by turning the valves - but no success.

if it is the inlet valve, how do I get at it!!??

any advice??
thanks
andrew

Unlikely to be a prblem with the vavle....much more likely its your house plumbing.
Can you manage to determine exactly where the hammer noise is coming from?....if you can manage to pull the machine out, the vavle is located at the rear of the mchine, inside and low down....you could check to see if the noise is coming from there?

From Simon46 on the duplicate thread...

What happens when you turn your cold sink tap on and off quickly?

It is most likely a partial blockage in the entry to the sump from metering tank if you remove filter the entry to the sump is front left if you fill water in base get a small plunger type tool and push in and out a few times you should see the gunge appear in the water. The blockage causes . the water hammer due the level sw setting and reseting.

Hi
Good advice "guest". How about registering if you an engineer in the trade (see kwatt)
Too elaborate on fault, remove front plinth part of d/w. You will then see a 1ft transclucent ribbed pipe going from metering unit on l/h side to sump. This pipe is 'O' ringed either end and will pull off to enable cleaning.

Reasssemble an fault should disappear.

As always remember DISCONNECT appliance before attempting any repair :plug:
