Smeg Dishwasher constantly filling with water!

Postby Doozergirl » Tue May 05, 2009 9:09 am

Hoping someone can advise - bit of a long story!

We moved out of a house three years ago - when we moved, my husband couldn't get the inlet water pipe off the plumbing fixing so he had to cut the pipe. Fast forward three years... and he's decided to put the dishwasher back into service! He's done a bit of a quick fix on the pipe using a new end fixing, some 10mm copper pipe and some jubilee clips.

Well, as soon as you turn on the water pipe, the machine just fills with water from the bottom. Luckily the dishwasher when switched on, drains the water out! It seems to be responding to being put on an actual wash - makes the right noises etc but the water is coming from the wrong place!

There is also a random black cable that is hanging out of the back of the machine - is this important?! It's a DWF614SS if that helps any. I'm thinking he's chopped off something that regulates the water supply?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

You've cut off the aquastop hose assembly off (it had a square plastic block at the end containing solenoid valves). It would need replacing as a complete item. Water and electrical connections are in base of appliance - plug out or call an engineer

Thank you very much! I was reading about the aquastop and did wonder if that was what it was.

Would H be able to replace it with any ease - I think the back has to back taken off doesn't it? If it's easy then would someone be able to help me locate the right part to purchase?

Or would it really be better then to call an engineer? I guess I'm just happy if I don't need to buy another dishwasher!

Connections accessed under base tray. Try spare parts area on this site, or parts available from smeg service. PULL OUT PLUG before attempting any repairs.
