My Whirlpool DWF 417 and its annoying flashing lights!

Postby ED209 » Sat Mar 05, 2005 10:18 am

Alright,

My Whirlpool DWF 417 ( its a slimline one that came with an Ikea kitchen ) is playing up.

It has 5 wash indicator lights and then 2 for salt & rinse aid. At the moment lights 4 & 5 ( that the manual says both light up for 'Cancel' of the current programme ) are flashing ( which is not somethign that the Reference Guide mentions! ) - water will drain ok, but everytime you shut the door you get two little bleeps and you can hear something ( pump maybe ) running but it just goes for ages without doing anything. Sometimes you hear the water start but shuts off immeadiately.

The guide mentions a 'water-stop device' which tallys with some of the other posts that talk of the anti-flood device - could this be the case here?

Any ideas very gratefully received!

Cheers

Ed

Picked a good one here, Ed.
This is a Bosch machine, badged as a Whirlpool and sold as a special to Ikea.

The undertray of your appliance has almost certainly flooded and operated the float switch. With the power off, drain the undertray and things should pick up again. However, you need to find the source of the leak in order to avoid a recurrence.

Safety first - :plug:

Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Cheers! I will give it a go - I've just had to wash up for the first time in 2 years and didn't enjoy it!

Thanks very much for the advice - I never had a clue that forums like this existed until this morning and I glad they do!

Best wishes

Ed

Hi

Slightly unrelated question but I have just acquired the same dishwasher from IKEA.

Although it has a red water fill hose I understand that it is cold water fill. Am I right in this assumption?

Thanks

David

Yes David, cold fill only.

Hi Faye,

Unplug from mains.
Pull out from under worktop.
Towels down.
Tilt to one side and get ready for a torrant of water to come out........

HTH,
