Beko CA5410W fridge / freezer - fridge not cold enough

Postby barkat » Thu Dec 29, 2005 9:39 am

Hi all,

I've had a cast around on these forums and I'm pretty sure this exact problem hasn't been discussed.

Basically, the fridge on my Beko fridge / freezer isn't working properly; it's too warm. I haven't got a thermometer handy, so I can't check the exact temp, but it's not even cold enough to harden margarine. The freezer is still cold enough to freeze water, but not quickly, so I suspect that is also running too hot.

The unit is an upright one with 'exposed' elements in the freezer part (i.e., the elements make up the shelves in the freezer). There are no warning lights or anything like that on this model.

I've noticed the following things:
- the unit is making the normal 'noise' of the compressor humming
- the unit is almost constantly making a sort of gurgling noise, as if lots of water is being pumped around. This started when the problem started
- it doesn't matter which setting I use on the dial - the fridge never clicks off
- the compressor is very hot; it feels as hot as a radiator to the touch

Having read other posts on Beko fridge / freezers, I'm pretty much prepared for having to replace it, but if someone can come up with a fairly inexpensive check I can carry out before splashing out a few hundred quid on a new unit, I'd be most grateful.

I think that you may have to to be honest, it sounds much like a system failure to me, either gas shortage or the compressor is failing.

Only an engineer with the correct equipment will be able to tell for sure but either of those would render the appliance beyond economic repair I would think.

Check the repairs@ link below if you would like confirmation :)
