Bosch fridge freezer faulty help needed please

Postby Frederick » Wed Apr 27, 2005 11:57 am

Hello,

Im a newbie to the forum and like to firstly appreciate the existance of this forum, very well nicely done and very informative.

Ive currently got a problem with my Bosch fridge freezer KGV3120GB/01, it doesnt refridgerate, however if I switch it off for a while then switch it back on it will work, but only for a few hours then it stops working again and I need to switch off and leave it for while and switch back on again, sometimes have to wait 4-6 hours which is not good for the food in there.

I did some research and came to the conclusion I would have to replace the Control Module unit which is part number 267661, today I replaced this part and it appeared to work however I switched the fridge off momenteraly then when I switched it back on nothing happened again, EG I cant hear the compressor kick in when the power switch is on.

Also forgot to mention that when it does work, it frosts the back of the fridge and goes very cold, EG I dont think the temp adjustment does anything it effectively goes into super cold mode.

I would be very grateful if anyone on here could advise me on what could be wrong with my fridge freezer or what part may be defective. Im leading to think that it could be the thermostat.

Many thanks

Frederick

Switching it on and off momenteraly has probably caused this to be honest.

Power it down for a few hours and try again, it should reset the PCB if it's been "upset" by the sudden loss and regain of power.

Thanks for your reply.

Ive just switched it on and now it seems to be working, do you think it could have been the control unit that was causing this problem?

If it shuts down again in the next few hours what would you think is the problem? When it does stop refridgerating the LED on the control unit is still on but the fridge and freezer both stop to work and the elements on the back of the fridge get cold.

Thanks

Most PCB's have a time delay on them from power on, it prevents damage to the system should the unit be switched on too quickly after delivery/moving etc.

I expect it will be fine ;)

With that model number it sounds like a sensor fault. The sensor cannot be replaced, but there is an inexpensive repair kit available that by passes this sensor.
A typical reported fault for this would be “fridge freezer not running, but if I switch it off then on it works ---- for a while.”

I think you may need professional help.

Well I think you may be correct, after 5 hours of fitting the new control module it has just now stopped working again, EG lights are on but no noise and fridge and freezer inoporable.

Do you know what kit consists of, or is it a case of shorting out a couple of wires I read sometime ago on some place on the net.

Many thanks for your help.

The kit will short out two wires, but has the instruction sheet with it .

I have exactly the same problem with my fridge freezer. This mod kit 491416, is it simply a case of soldering pins 1 and 2 together? Or does anybody have a copy of the instructions they could email me? If so wayne_schofield@hotmail.com. Thank you

www.bshappliancecare.com will do the trick.

Regards,

Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Hi,

I also have a Bosch KGV3120GB/01 and am experiencing the same problem with the fridge/freezer cutting out.
I was looking for mod kit 491416 as was suggested by one of your users which will fix the problem but I am unable to locate it.
Does this kit just short pins 1/2 on the control board? Can I do this without the kit? Any help would be appreciated.
(Great site by the way)

Thanks in advance,

Eamonn

Just a quick note to say many thanks to BSH man for the advice on this thread.

I have a Bosch KGV3120GB/01, which stopped fridging and Freezing yesterday. This sent SWMBO into a panic as we had just come back from a Chrismas shop....

Thanks to this thread our fridge/freezer is now working. What a top forum.

Thanks again. Merry Xmas
