this type of f/f has 12 volt dc fan motor that is prone to going intermittently faulty.the fan might run a short time after say opening and closing the door or post defrost cycle, while for the vast majority of time remaining inoperative. This would cause the top of the freezer section to feel warm stopping the production of ice in the cabinets ice maker.Replacing the evaporator fan will cure this, though stripping the the frzr sctn down is a little tricky, and req's some patience.

Thanks for the reply folthik
I am also having frost build up on the back of the freezer, a few days ago I cleared ice build up from the freezer evaporator coils using a hair dryer which helped but the frost is now showing on the back panel.

This can also be a symptom of a faulty fan. If the fan is not running the cold air is not circulating, therefore the freezer thinks it's not cold enough and keeps the compressor running causing frost build up.

Thanks for your reply
The freezer has reached its set temperture and is also started making ice, looks like it's the fan which sometimes makes rattling grinding sounds.
