Hi

I have a Samsung American Fridge Freezer model RS55XDGNS bought from Samsung France, which is similar to RS21.

Have had this since 2005 and been very pleased with it, until now!
It has stopped dispensing water from the water dispenser on the front panel

Everything else is working OK, freezer temperature is OK, fridge temp is OK, and water is being delivered to the ice making compartment (have emptied the ice out and new ice cubes are being made).

I am assuming from reading previous posts that the water feed inside the door is frozen!!

Any ideas welcomed as to how to a) resolve this problem, and b) stop it happening again!

The water tank which is behind the salad containers will most likely be frozen.

This will require a repair kit which we hold in stock. samsung@ffrservices.co.uk

Defrost the water tank very slowly by leaving the unit switched off with the fridge door open else a direct heat can cause the tank to split.

Hi Bryan, and thanks for your speedy reply.

Presumably there will be no urgency for effecting this repair as we will not be in the UK for a couple of weeks, and do not want to defrost the fridge until I have the repair kit?

Is this an easy fix and will it stop this happening again?

OK, I got around to buying the full kit necessary to carry out this fix. Whilst the kit contained all parts necessary I found the instructions somewhat lacking and appeared to have been written by somebody who did not have English as their first language!! Perhaps translated from the Japanese version of Samsung instructions. The photographs were as good as useless! The instructions missed out some very important advice about removing the lighting cover in the back of the fridge - but fortunately I managed to get the cover off without any damage.

All fixed now and working well....

If you have similar problems with your Samsung fridge/freezer (RS21 type) do not attempt a fix by buying a bit at a time and hope for a solution. You really will need all the bits in the kit sooner rather than later, so bite the bullet and buy the lot. However do some research on the seller and find out if the instructions are complete and if they will be around to answer any questions you may have! My kit arrived with no sender details, or telephone number! Fortunately I am fluent in reading between the lines and was able to manage the fix. However I suspect that many would have had some problems without a comprehensive instructions leaflet.

Have the same problem and have mine since 2005 also?

Was away for the week but had people in the house and no water coming out when I got back. I have take the cooler section apart and although there was some ice on the RHS nothing that I could see would cause a major prob.

I did feel the water bottel and does seem frozen and there was ice behind it. I tried defrosting with hair dryer but still nothing.

What is in the kit you got that you feel sorted your issue?
