The icemaker in my S20BRWW20/A/G isn't working. I've replaced the IR receiver optics (based on info I found in another forum) and that hasn't helped. Then I found this thread. This thread seems to be more like the issue I have because the fault has come in slowly and worsened over time (it used to be that turning the icemaker off for a bit and then back on would restart it) so to me the idea of a component like a cap failing over time makes sense. This morning I have replaced the cap described as controlling the ice eject mechanism and this hasn't helped either.

Am I now looking at a control board replacement?

The whirlpool spares web site is quoting £165.99 for these. Have they gone up? Do I also need the front board?

Mine is a 858615215011, 110346027102.

Thanks

similar to another problem re water dispenser posted on this forum.

My water dispenser stopped working today and have checked the filter and replaced, but still no water. Can't really hear if anything sounds different.

I have a Whirlpool side by side model no:FRBB36AF20/2
8586 158 15000
11 0422 029254

Is this connected to the water intake being so cold at this time of year.

I look forward to any responses which may put my mind at ease.

Have a similar problem of chattering relay and flashing temp display on Whirlpool AFG7060 freezer, Service Number 8549 706 15000. After a few hours the freezer stops working.
I have just replaced the sensor but the problem is still there with the new sensor. The reason I thought was the sensor was that it works perfectly on Fast freeze and deduced that the ff function bypasses the sensor!! The only problem with leaving on ff is that I can't regulate the temperature and it goes upto -24 which is the limit of the display panel. In effect the temp could go to say -40 !!! Am I correct?

If the control board needs replacing ten I don't think it is viable at a cost of over £100. Already spent £30 on the sensor! The freezer is about 3 years old.

If anyone out there knows a cheap solution, please let me know.

Thanks

MacShah

Same problem here to with our AFG 7080/IX

engineer (his words not ours....) from MDM Appliances came out on 29 november & diagnosed the fault as the control/front panel he did this without taking any parts of the freezer while also telling us that he'd never herd of this problem before..... its the 8th of jan & were still waiting for this part to be replaced, even by my standards thats a long week!

whirlpool have been zero help, infact they have been almost unhelpfully! There engineers for our area (solihull) either don't answer the phone or its engaged! We paid the £225.88 to fix the problem in november & still have no freezer!

i'm at the point of buying a new fridge & freezer (there a matching pair) & delivering the faulty ones to one of the directors of MDM's homes!!!!!

I'm sure it WILL fit through the letter box!

 Just a quick note of thanks to all those who have assisted with my Whirlpool American style firidge Freezer problem!

My Fridge Freezer, which I bought in June 2003 started with the familiar intermittent clicking sound and the pulsing water last summer. About two weeks ago, the freezer (and since it's linked - the fridge) stopped working altogether, which prompted a return to this site to see if there had been any further developments.

After reading the posts it looked as though getting the two boards replaced would be expensive, but I decided that this was my only option - however I was very pleasantly surprised with the final repair bill of just £84inc, which included a repair/mod to the rear board. I live in the York area, and used Allcool Transport Refrigeration Services, who I found through this site.

Thanks again for all your help!

Ps. I'd also like to add that I've been very dissapointed with Whirlpool's lack of customer service as they're aware of this problem, yet as the appliance was only just out of warranty when the problem began - they refused to even meet half of any repair bill. :(

Hi there

Read this with interest hoping I might save myself a small fortune and avoid lining whirlpools vegetable compartment with my cabbage.

I have the clicking constantly, in my sleep and at work - gets quicker when you dispense water, which comes out in spurts.

My model is S20B RSB21 and service codes: 8586 151 15001 and 110331 025 202 nearly the same a previous post (selecta11)

Can any wise man tell me if I need one board / two boards / a big capacitor / a big stick with "whirlpool" written on it / or a frontal lobotomy

I think my washing machine has just exploded.

Your machine has the later electronics fitted to it so you may only need 1 board to repair.
You only need to guess which board now. :P
The fault you describe is normally the rear board. Flickering lights can be either or both boards.

Dunno if it helps but here's a basic run down of the common problems, from this link

I wouldn't have thought that the symptoms described would have been caused by a crack in the door, but can you expand a little?

You've got the older electronics so both boards required.

Can I repair rear board and try as described or do I have to replace both boards anyway? If so where is best place to buy boards?

If you know what's wrong with the boards then yes you can repair them.
Some have managed to repair them, others have had no luck.
Best place to buy replacements is to click on Shop@ on the left side of this page.

Hi,

I have a Whirlpool Fridge Freezer and it makes a clicking sound for a few minutes every hour or so. It has been doing this for the last year (or even longer).

The water dispenser also clicks loudly and, if I look at the back of the machine whilst water is being dispensed I can see the water pipe jerking about.

Tonight the freezer temperature display has decided to display -- instead of the usual 18*C and was beeping loudly for over an hour (thankfully it has stopped now). As yet I haven't noticed any drop intemperature and the fridge side seems to working fine.

The model is a S20D RSS33-A/G
with service numbers of 8586 158 15020 and 11 0419 026558

Can anyone shed any light on my problems?
Thanks.

That's a Johnmac11 or DP one I suspect. ;)

Just as an update --- it's stopped working now.

The display now looks correct and it's stopped making any noises but it's just a large cooler box instead of a fridge/freezer. :(
