Zanussi Zss 7/5x

Postby pin » Wed Apr 06, 2005 9:42 pm

Hi,,i have a Zanussi Zss 7/5x fridge-freezer but have been having some problems for the lasst 48 hours. The machine started to leak water from the freezer side,,after having alook i saw it had begun to defrost. The fridge temperature also dropped but is now almost back to normal.

I was under the impression that this model auto-defrosted continually with no need for a turn-off/complete defrost. saying this the freezer temperature has still not risen even though no ice reamains ( there was very little to begin with).

Any advice would be great as the service centre did not even bother returning my call.

Thanks in advance.

Can you hear the motor running ?

It may be just the thermostat in the fridge which controls the whole appliance.

yes,,i can hear it running and theres the sound of running water in the freeezer, but the thermostat is turned up to the highest.
Also the fridge temperature seems to have dropped again. Something very odd here ,it cant be defrosting for 72 hours. :?

It's not defrosting, there is a problem with the system (Compressor/Gas) by the sound of it.

Time for an engineer to be honest, check repairs@ and the directories, there should be one there who can help, if not, pop up your postcode here.

That's not an easy one as labour rates vary from region to region, you can discuss that with the guys that the call went to. As far as the repair goes, hopefully it may require a gas top up, worst case scenario is a major internal leak which would render the appliance beyond repair. Compressor replacement would normally be somewhere between £125-£175 in total (ish).

lo again ,,, worked out what it was,, one guy said if the door had been left open for a period of time it could cause a build-up of ice inside that the auto-defrost couldnt handle. He recommended i turn it off for 24 hours and then try. Just did and all is well. w00t
