Relay on the PCB failed perhaps?

We have the same problem with our Whirlpool AFG7080.

It started just after the NICEIC testers finished turning the circuits off and on as they tested our new extension electrics :rolls:

I've read through the posts on here regarding the US style side-by-side fridge freezers with a similar problem when dispensing ice but when I look at the back of the freezer I can't see any circuit boards or relays to check.

At the bottom there is a sticker with the following on it:

HTK12AA
R600A
6 542
0068154 7

The freezer is stuck at -19 but often gets much colder - as low as -21 - and then starts making the loud clicking noise. After a few seconds it stops and eventually goes back to -19. The food inside is definitely frozen.

The freezer is just over 2 years old and we've recently been sent a letter asking us if we'd like to cover it for a year for around £38. I'm sorely tempted but wonder if ringing up as soon as cover starts to report a problem would be suspicious!

Very suspicious and insurance companies aren't daft. ;)

I've seen many a policy cancelled due to this sort of thing and normally there's a moretorium (sp?) period as well on this sort of policy of at least a month. But they will look closely at up to three months depending on the insurers policies.

On that basis can anybody offer any advice on how I check if it is the relay on the PCB?

Happily we have sorted this. When we moved the freezer out of the utility room to tile the floor we noticed that it was completely leaning and after adjusting the feet using a spirit level to ensure it was level, it seems much happier and is back to -19 as it was before.

Am going to take out the Whirlpool cover though as the forum seems full of people with problems!
