Postby colinread » Thu Jan 18, 2007 2:45 pm

Model No. DWF 415. This is a brand new unit and also new plumbing. it fills up with water then the light flashes. If you push the button in and hold it empty the water OK. The water inlet is attached to whats called a `water stop` this is positioned near the floor horizontal. could this be the problem ?. Also ive only got cold water supply is this ok ? Any helfp would be great.

How many lights and which lights are flashing?

Also if you can give the full model or the long 85??? no.

If you say it is filling up water(and water is in the dishwasher) and then stops taking water in then the spray motor should kick in.

Regards

Is there a pattern to the start light flashing; ie 1-2-3-4-pause-repeat?

Penguin45.
Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Sounds very much like a seized wash pump...even had a brand new Bosch with one this week. The cure is easy....the pump just needs a helping hand to start for the first time, unfortunately this is not a diy job particularly as it's under guarantee?

Incidentally the light should flash 5 times then pause if this is the case.

My wife bought it in 2003 and its been standing in garage until now ! Exstension to build with new kitchen etc.
Light flashes 1-2-3-4-5-6-pause-repeat.
If you open bottom is full with water, then if you hold start button in it pumps water out.
If its the pump are they similar to a washing machine etc.

Service No. 8545 415 15750

I found some info on web on 851175001810 with regards to failure code, indication in test program when a failure occurs.....
It seems to indicate F6 water tap closed----
a, water tap closed (seems ok )
b, water inlet hose blocked ( seems ok )
c, water inlet valve ( WV1 ) defective. ?

What do you think.

6 flashes could also indicate a problem with the system that controls the water level which seems more likely as the machine has obviously taken water onboard.

This is often caused by food residues in the system but as the appliance is brand new then is engineer time i'm afraid.

The good news is it is under guarantee so it won't cost you anything to call the manufacturer out to sort it for you.

Thanks for input guys.
I spoke with whirlpool they want £ 70.00 odd. to send engineer out as the item was purchased in Jan 2003.
They told me to speak to IKEA after I mentioned about the sale act 1979 that all goods should be good for 6 years.
IKEA said that they give a 90 day ! Then a year with whirlpool !
I mentioned about the 1979 sales act and they have loged my information and will call me back in 12 working hours.
I will see what happens.

If IKEA refuse to budge then you could try the link below for a local engineer...most if not all will have a smaller call out charge than £70!!!

Besides...it will likely be something minor...the inlet regulator's prone to problems and the fact that it has been unused may mean it needs a techincal adjustment (judicious thump with a flat hand!) to revive it  This part is located inside a water chamber inside the cabinet so not a diy job unless you are confident.

If you have a go yourself then you must unplug before doing anything

I took the side panel off to look at water chamber, did a flat hand hit with no sucess. When you start program, machine fills up with water just up to the point of door seal- then the green light starts flashing!. after its got to this stage should the water be pumped up to the spray arme etc. ?

IKEA made contact and wont move on there 90 days- whirlpool 12 months !
I take it after the water has put in its quota a pump must turn on to spray water ?
Any help will be great.
Tried the engineer route but none in my area. Chippenham,Wiltshire.

Hi

Machine is overfilling if water gets to bottom of door. So engineer time to sort it out.
