Smeg DWF410SS smoking!

Postby Craig73 » Thu Apr 19, 2007 10:55 pm

Hi There,

A couple of days ago the electric in the kitchen tripped (I only noticed as there was no light in the fridge), I had been sitting in the next room and as far as I could tell nothing was switched on. Anyhow I reset the trip at which point there was a loud popping noise from behind the dishwasher then a plume of smoke and the usual acrid smell of burning components.

On inspection I discovered that the suppression filter had exploded giving off the smoke and burning smell but why should this have happened?

The dishwasher was switched off at the time, at first I suspected there had been a water leak on to the mains inlet but I can't seem to find anything that might suggest so. Could this be down to a faulty/poor quality filter? Has anyone come across this before?

The dishwasher has worked fine until now and this happened while it was switched off!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards

Craig

Yeah Craig, filters do pop for no apparent reason on occasion. Give Dave a shout on spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and he'll be able to source you a new one.

Ask spares@ for 813410341 - that's the mains suppressor. They do blow up occasionally as they are permanently live (before On/Off switch).

Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Hey guys thanks very much for your swift reply I'll get on to Dave for a new one now.

Do you think it would pay to replace it with, perhaps, a better quality one such as a Schaffner or something similar?

Very Best Regards
