Samsung RS21 problems - need an error code deciphered...

Postby Vincepbell » Tue May 22, 2007 9:42 pm

Hi gents,

Having the usual defrost issues with my RS21. I replaced the fridge sensor recently which helped, but after a few days a new error code appeared.

At first it was just the middle bar on the fridge side, I was told I needed a new defrost heater, which I stupidly paid the guy £58 pounds for (Tony Clifton @ Airkool), and he's never sent it and now stopped answering my text messages. :(

Anyway, got a little off topic there!

The error code is currently the middle and top bars on the fridge side. I've already replaced the fridge sensor and the evaporator cover. What do I need to do next? Do I need the defrost heater, and if so, is this the correct one: http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/product_ ... ts_id=1067 ?

Cheers guys!
Vince.

Hey again,

Just went back in to the kitchen and noticed that the fridge temp is now actually flashing.

What on earth does that mean?

Cheers,
Vince.

Hey Vince

When the temperature and the lights are flashing it means that it is not at the correct temperature and is probably getting warm and not cooling at all

Hi Vince,
The first error code you have means that the ref section is taking longer than 80 minutes to complete a defrost. This will indicte a fault with either the Thermal fuse, defrost heater or the defrost sensor in the ref section. Your new error code is the ice maker sensor, this can be repaced as a complete ice maker unit. If you switch the ice maker off on the control panel this error code should disappear.

Hi,

Thanks for the info!

Thats very strange, however, as the ice maker seems to be working perfectly still?

Could you confirm for me that the link I gave is the correct defrost heater? It's the only part I haven't replaced yet, but I'm not sure thats the right one.

Thanks,
Vince.

Hi Vince

I am having the same problem, have you replaced the defrost heater yet and has it cured your problem? Also, when I press and hold the top 2 buttons the middle light comes on on my fridge, is this how you accessed your error code?

Hey,

I fitted the new defrost heater, and the fridge is working normally for now, but the error code has returned.

Middle bar on the fridge side is lit.

Not sure what to replace at this point.....

Cheers,
Vince.

Did you meter the plugs out resistance wise?. Unplug appliance first from wall socket.
