I need to replace the heating element on my dishwasher. I've ordered the new element, but need advice as to how to remove the old one and install the new one.
Anybody able to help please?

What sort of element is it? In the tub? Tube under the tub?

There's not a lot of info on these Chinese dishwashers, which would explain the lack of response; not to mention the pretty much universal hatred of them in then Trade!

Ok, in that case....... Where the element bends into the floor, there is a rubber seal under the flange, and a threaded stud. Looking up from underneath, there is a nut on the stud poking through, this is usually holding an "E" plate clamp in place. Undo nut a couple of turns, "E" plate should slip out and the heater can be wiggled free.

Power off, of course and make a diagram of where all the wires go as we
definatley won't be able to help if you go wrong.

Regards,

The problem I, and I suspect the original poster, am having is working
out how to get at the underside of the tub in the first place. I put the
machine on it's back expecting find some sort of access cover underneath
but the base plate seems to be pretty solidly fixed to everything else.

I can take the plastic cover off the back but that does not reveal
anything interesting. I can't believe I have to take all the external
panels off but maybe I do.

Any help gratefully received.

To remove base......

1/ Remove lid.
2/ Remove door outer.
3/ Remove front kick panel.
4/ Remove left and right hand side panels.
5/ Remove base

Dead easy..... not! :rolls:

Pull the plug first.

Thanks for the advice ... which confrimed that things really are as bad as I had first thought. Anyone else reading this may wish to know that in the end I went for a 'quicker and dirtier' aproach. i.e removed 5 screws from the back of the RH side panel. Bent the side panel enough to gain access. Did the job (you need a very small 8mm C spanner). Bent the panel back and re-attached.

I now have a crease down the side of my unit but it works :-) and, once it is back in it's slot, who cares ?

Not for the professional but it works ... Can we bodge it? Yes we can.
