I have a Bosh Fridge Freezer KGV3120GB/03 whose compressor pump won't seem to fire up. I've replaced the control module and whilst the compressor housing gets quite warm it won't run and fridge / freezer stays warm. I've read a few threads on linking out the thermostat by joining wires 1 & 2 (or 1&3 depending on the thread) of the control module to bypass it. Can anyone offer any advice / confirmation as to which ones I need to link on this model?

The modification you're talking about is used for a fault displaying slightly diferent symptons to what you're describing . If you switch off your appliance for a few hours and then switch it back on , does the compressor fire up and does it get cold at all ? If it freezes for approx 18-24 hrs before warming up again , then the mod may work . If on switch on , the compressor doesn't fire up or just clicks or hums very quietly , you may have a seized compressor .

I too have a KGV3120GB/03 whose compressor won't run despite light on and power etc. Having replaced the control module there's still no noise from the compressor though it does get fairly warm. Can anyone advise if it's also likely to be the sensor needing bypassing or there is likely to be a more serious fault?

Hoping that it's the sensor can anyone advise which two wires need linking together, the pins are numbered; 1,1&2,2&3,3&4 on my control module?

Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks for this. Initially as you say the fridge started up fine if left for a few hours then stopped again. Now it fails to even start. I hear the switching in an out of the contacts(?) but I can't hear the compressor run, there's no vibration and it gets fairly hot. Do / can I replace the compressor (Part no. 141797)? bit loathed to buy a new fridge!

ull need someone with specialist equipment to change the compressor.. its not just a change job, the compressor needs to be brazed/lockring fitted, vacced down, pressure tested and regassed

My Bosch fridge freezer, model number KGV3 120GB 03, had the same fault. That is that it worked for a while then had to be switched off for a few hours, then switched on again and so on. It seemed from others comments that the sensor was not working, so perhaps I needed part 491416, a connector kit to bypass it. I ordered the part from BSH Appliance Care which arrived the next day with instructions. They were quite easy to follow but I made a bit of a mistake and cut the wires too short. They need to be at least 3 inches long. However, it seemed I did not need the part anyway as it is merely a kit to join 2 wires. So I joined them without the kit and the fridge freezer is now working. The part and postage is only £13.44 and I guess for a proper job you should order it. Just to say I've never repaired a white good before, so if I can do it, you can. I'm a girl too! Great forum, no doubt saved me a lot of money!

Hi there- I have a GB/01 with similar symptoms, nice to know I'm not alone (if you know what I mean...)

Freezer has been getting more and more inefficient over the past couple of months; it kind of oscillates between freezing and not freezing, the cycle taking a few days. Altering the control to v. cold has made no difference. I switched it off & back on and the motor started up once. Not done it since so maybe I need to leave it off for a bit...

Does it sound like the mod as mentioned above will fix this?

Now I'm an expert I can go & fix the toaster. Apparently it needs an 'elephant' or something.

I had the same problem with my KGV3120GB/03. There is a clip at the left of the PCB which can be used to short pins 1 & 2 at the other end of the PCB. The clip can be put over two pads by pins 1 & 2: its probably for test purposes but it seems to have fixed the problem, the compressor now runs. hello folks,

i'm new here and i need some help before i spend moey i don't have.

we are pulling our hair out because our bosch kgu 30605gb/01 fridge freezer stopped working after i switched it off for a clean, prior to that the red warning light had come on and the freezer was losing temp and the temp lights had been flashing intermitantly.

now it just won't fire up at all.

i have looked but can't locate any panels to try to bypass the sensors.

can anyone help?

Hi mbc,

unplug the fridge, open the top door and undo the two screws under the top facia panel. Pull the panel off and dig out the PCB. Then look at my post under the name "Stuart" to find the bypass clip.

Its not a brilliant repair as the fridge runs constantly - frost forms on the back panel. It uses something like 1 kw / day.

I've also tried Maplin termistors to replace whatever is inside the fridge - that didn't work. Next is an old mechanical thermostat from an old fridge. Next is to buy a new fridge - freezer.

To repair the fridge properly we'd need to know what is on the other end of the "thermistor" wires.

I had the exact same problem and have just fixed using the pin shorting method as posted on Flickr.

Quick question. Do I need to leave the pin in place as a permanent fix or do I remove the pin afterwards

Loathed to burn the house down!!

Hi there -

Another newbie trying to figure out what's wrong.

I have a Bosch Fridge/Freezer KGU31125GB. The freezer seemed to be slowing down (ice cream was not getting frozen!) so we switched off to ensure it was defrosted. However, when it gets switched back on I get about 15/30 sec of normal humming/gurgling and then there is a click and it stops. It does this several times, each time ending in a click. Then the temperature lights on top start flashing.....The result is that the freezer is not getting the least bit cold.

Any help gratefully received as in that dilemma of is it worth repairing or do I have to fork out for a new one!
