Baumatic BT900W Built-In Double Oven (Main Oven Fault)

Postby JKH » Mon Dec 27, 2004 4:18 pm

Hi there

I was hoping that somebody could help me recognise which part I need to order to cure a fault that I have with my oven.

The main oven (fan-assisted) recently became very noisy and now doesn't cook. It gets slightly warm but nothing like the temperature that it's been set to (e.g. 200)

I have removed the fan grille at the back and the fan does not appear to
be rotating at all.

Is it likely to be the fan or fan motor (or is this supplied as a kit). I tried talking to Baumatic on the phone but the chap I spoke with was of the opinion that the element could be gone too?

Any help greatly appreciated. Also, if you stock these spares could you let me know?

Thanks again

Jason

If you switch the oven on, the fan should be spinning, if its not then the motor has probably had it. The fan element which is around the fan may still be getting hot which may be the slight heat you have, in fact, without the fan it will quickly become red hot and hence may have burnt itself out.
Usually a new fan comes with a new fan motor, the element will have to be ordered seperatly if required. Dont do Baumatic parts myself but i am sure someone here will reply with parts details when the world returns to some sort of normality.

Thanks for the quick response Mark. It sounds like I might be better off ordering the full kit including Fan with Motor and element.

Can this be fitted by a semi-technical person or does it need a White Goods Engineer? My Dad's in the Brown Goods repair industry and has fixed my fridge and washing machine before now, was hoping he could help.

If anyone knows where to get the spares it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers again

JKH, can you drop an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and I'll check out more info for you when I'm back at the office on Wedneday.

Dave.
