Fisher and Paykel MW511 replace & program motor control

Postby fyodor » Wed Aug 13, 2008 9:36 am

Hi
I need some advice on how to program a new Controller board for insertion into my MW511.
This is the part number.
Product Code: 420690NZP
Description: CONTRL CTR SD12 230V NZ/AUS SERIES 12 GW/MW ONLY

Back story:
Washer having occasional problems - not addressed. then it fails.
When powered on at wall beeps incessantly and displays lights:
00110001 which thanks to Penguin45 on this forum i could see was code 49 - cold water solenoid failure. opened it up sure enough the solenoid is corroded and doesn't function when I hook it up to a power source to test it.
I replace it with genuine F&P part - I've tested it, and the hot - both work fine.
When it is powered on the same beep and display.
I conclude the controller board is fried - I then proceed to poke it and the component directly connected to the cold water plug is brittle and broke easily. - not the best course of action I know, but too late now.

As for the warranty the machine is out of manufactures, and we don't have proof of purchase anymore, and I don't think poking is covered by warranty.

I'm in NZ so parts are pretty cheap here - I have a new controller board arriving form F&P soon, they said I would need to get it programmed for my machine. - MW511 5.5kg
Questions:
Is this the size setting process?
If not how would you describe the process?
What is the procedure for doing this programing?

as an aside
F&P have a good reputation here - I've had F&P appliances across the board my whole life, parents did too, But last year the fridge I bought at the same time as this washer died. Two appliances failing within 3-4 years of purchase is a bit rubbish.

Thanks in advance
William

Programming is for Size Setting
There should be instuctions with new Controller
But if not
Press & hold Temp up Button then press power button
Press wash temp up button until cold LED is on
Press power to lock in & exit mode
