Ive been looking at a similar post with interest;

I was asked by a work colleague to look at his old Creda T601CW which was not developing any heat.
I checked the green spot stat and one shot device both ok. I tested the heater circuits both read around the 40 ohms and also tested the stat inside the door, again all was well.
I then read the article commenting on a dryness sensor! Having looked in the machine im struggling to see if it has one and if that is in fact the cause of the heat issue?
Does anyone have any ideas?

Is the timer testable (is that actually a word?)


Well thats a strange one? after reading the last post I found the lower imer and cleaned the terminals, spun the timer round a few times and pushed the panel buttons in and out anf heat we have?
Im not sure what the failure was or what has changed?

Purely electro-mechanical control on this one. There is a countdown timer in the control panel, there is a separate motor reversing timer in the floor of the timer. It allows extended running with heat in one direction, and a short reverse period without heat.

Check that the machine does actually reverse as a starting point. If it does, the timer motor is working. If it doesn't, it may have failed in the reverse position = no heat. Either timer can be the fault, as the heater circuit is routed through both. The top one turns the heat off with 10 minutes to go, the bottom every time the machine does the short reverse. It's a real s@d to get at as well......

mmm, left the dryer on with a few damp towels last night and woke up to find.....damp towels!
The machine definately does do the reverse spin every now and again!
During the run last night I did notice that the heater casing was kind of cyclic in temperature; it would get up to a hot condition (although not what I would call "I need to remove my hand now hot") and would then return to a tepid temperature?
Is there any test method for the timers?

Ive since swapped the stats from another machine and again the heat cycles by getting hot then cools...a real shame as im not sure its financially worth repairing?
