I have a Fisher Paykel GW709.
After following advice from numerous posts, I found my fault to be a blocked pump. I have drained the water, removed the pump and cleared a piece of small jewelery type chain.
Looking through the gap of the inner bowl, I can still see a piece of chain is stuck in/around the drain cap hood/impellor.
I have removed agitator, spline drive assey etc, but can only pull the bowl a small way up the shaft and no further. After using some lubricant on the area, I can easily lift the bowl up and down the shaft about 1-2 cm, but thats it!
Is there any further tricks of the trade someone can advise, as I have had 2 strong men also attempt to remove it with no luck. Probably the reason there are now 2 small cracks in the stator ><
Any help would be much appreciated

Lift lid
Remove Two Screws From The Front Hob (Theres Plastic caps over Screws)
Hob Lifts Back
Remove Agitator
Unclip BIAS spRING From front left suspension Rod
Remove Bowl Cover (Plastic ring)
Bowl Lifts Out
You can remove 3 Spline Drive Screws (IE Drive Spline is Plastic Piece Under Agitator)
They generally come out with not much fuss
Just use a bit of back & forth up & down movement
OH Yeah power off

I had actually followed that same advice from other posts you have made, only reason I got this far : )
Still no luck tho, guess i have one that does cause a fuss.
It feels like it is getting stuck on something underneath, is it possible for something to get tangled around the shaft under the inner bowl? preventing it from coming out?
And if so, what do you do in the case of the really fussy ones?
As i said ive had some pretty tough guys come to try help, whilst I cross my fingers hoping they dont cause more damage ( they have really used some force and still got it no further out.)

One of them wanted to take the machine apart from the bottom, removing motor, everything and then removing shaft that way - seemed a bit drastic, if even possible? ( I at least i have the parts manual pdf for them, with diagrams to help)
Please let me know what you think, once again Thanks so much for any addition info you might be able to provide.

For future reference and anyone else having the same problem -

I now know it IS possible for something to be stuck under the inner bowl preventing it from coming out : )

I got a piece of wire, bent it into a right angle shape- inserted it in gaps in inner bowl and twirled it around attempting to dislodge anything stuck around shaft under bowl. (Heard a little "ting" as something came loose! yay)

I simply refused to give up, ( been at this inner bowl on and off for 6 weeks ) kept on with the up and down motion for another few hours with a fair amount of lubrication in between efforts.
Finally pulled it free - turns out the offending piece of chain had scratched and scraped some plastic off the machine on its journey though the wash! (under agitator and under inner bowl where shaft fits, have scrapes/scratches)

The piece of thin craft chain had eventually merged itself with the (melted and then hardened) plastic and lodged itself around the opening under the bottom of inner bowl (where it sits around shaft).

Have thoroughly cleaned all pieces and about to put it all back together. Will update on hopefully a working washing machine soon : )

It appears i have a
"Drum bearing seal failure - water runs down the drive shaft and through the motor. Usually accompanied by increasing noise and occasional short circuits."

possible to just replace the seal? I have another washer arriving tomorrow that a friend picked up for me (F&P Model LW095) that apparently has a faulty pump, but could be good for parts (or my pump on that machine if thats all thats wrong with it, seems to be same pump part number for both models?) or if you could advise part/kit number for Drum bearing seal that would be great.
Please help!

edit - is it part 6 pg 16, #425006P? and how difficult is it to replace. I feel im at least semi competent to have gotten this far, but please let me know if this issues one i really should leave to the professionals.

If its leaking from shaft You will need to replace Shaft seal Probably shaft .Shaft bearings .Would Suggest not use as water can & will leak onto RPS
causing that to fizzle & on to motor causing that to fry the main Module

Shaft 420794p ABOUT $90.00
Bearings x2 425009P $18.00 A pop
To replace you have to take out inner bowl again
You have to take out Outer Bowl complete with motor Pump etc Attached
To get that out you have to remove suspension & drain hose clips Etc etc
Once youve got the whole outer bowl out turn him upside down & remove Motor & stator Etc
Then you can get to shaft seals & bearings
A long procedure for the novice (About 60 mins for a Pro)

Pumps Are interchangeable between The GW 709& LW095

After removing the motor on the GW709 - I noticed the Nut bearing was loose (could turn it by hand). I tightened it up, put machine back together (for the time being - as I realized I need to borrow more tools to complete the bearing change if still needed - ugh).

Tried to run an empty load on lowest water level setting, the machine went through the wash cycle perfectly, no noises or anything out of the ordinary till it got to the drain setting. I could hear the feed? I think, going to the pump, but nothing was happening. No error lights showed up, and when I powered off the machine I could still hear the noise, had to turn it off at wall and unplug it, to make it stop. This pretty much the same thing that was happening before i cleaned pump and chain/gunk stuck under innerbowl : (
Tried to power it back up to get into diag mode but as soon as machine was switched on at wall, I could hear the noise again.
Unplugged it again, manually emptied it, double checked all wires etc were plugged in properly and left it for the night.

This morning its turned on like normal, no noise - It completed a full cycle, (lowest water level setting) worked perfectly, full flow from pump, which i haven't seen in weeks - no strange noises, few drops on floor (bearing change still imminent ><).

Is there any chance you could please tell me what the problem might be with the inconsistent drain/feed sound problem, even though it doesn't show up any error code?? Would it be related to the bearings (you said earlier it could fizzle main module?)or is it another problem entirely?

Only things I can find on the internet, indicate it might be main controller problem, just want to chk thats what you are refering to when you mention main module?
From what I can see the part number is same for both models GW709 and LW095 - (426520AP?), but would like verification on if they are also interchangeable, if possible? So i can switch them over and see if same problem still exists, since Ill have to take it apart again for bearing change anyway.

Firstly PCB Main Are interchangable
But you have to change size setting Numerous threads relating this Ie Fault Code 9
When you say noise are referring to pump running all the time ?
Ot is it Noise from Water Valve ?

The noise I hear, like a faint humming, is the same sound as when the machine is just about to (supposed too) drain the water out. So i am guessing it is the live feed to pump.? not sure

The machine occasionally (before any of this recent "surgery") would get stuck at the rinse setting, and this sound could be heard. I thought it was the pump blocked as machine sounded like it was trying to initiate the pump, but nothing would happen, just the constant hum. Most times, it would run though a full cycle like normal. Other times I would turn the machine off ,when stuck at draining stage, (sometimes at wall or noise would continue), come back an hour later and it would work (drain) fine and complete the cycle.
I had assumed it was something getting stuck in pump, then coming free and allowing the cycle to complete. Or, perhaps the pump was stuffed and overheating, then after the hour or so was cool enough to work again.

Since I have cleaned the pump, and above pump (hood etc), and even switched them over on both machines, I now realize the pump was probably never the problem. I'm sure the amount of chain stuck under inner bowl (and some found in pump) was not helping the situation, but yes, same problem after all the cleaning : ( and still no error code.

My first ever post on this forum, was about an RPS error code, which i cleaned and put back on, so I had also thought it could have been RPS working intermittently, and at the time, was just happy the machine worked more often then not, and was to scared to touch the pump!
I have the LW095 working fine at the moment, with my (GW709's) old pump, stator and rps, so they seem to be fine.
I will still be looking to change the bearings on my GW tho (when I have appropriate tools), as the machine is so much bigger, but if this problem is not related to bearings/shaft, will need to look into changing controller? or something at the same time.

To clarify - I do not believe the pump is actually running, but the machine sounds like it is trying to advance to the pumping stage with no success. (and now, sometimes the hum starts as soon as machine powers on, will still allow me to complete wash cycles, but sometimes wont drain). I have once had it power itself off after a few minutes of this noise, when it was stuck trying to drain (I was waiting for an error code, but none displayed - it just turned itself off). Machine is in currently in pieces , or I would attempt to check. It is so inconsistent though, but I do not believe pump was actually spinning at the time.

Sorry for the drawn out story, but would rather you have all the info.

OK Pump can overheat cut out Then Once cooled down run again If its working onthe smaller washer I presume its Ok
Id would check that it is not getting to hot thou (Just chek after its finished cylce Power OFF )
If The pump is coming on when you first switch on washer I suspect it to be afaulty Motor controller .
