Tricity Sovereign 4638 cooker

Postby philb » Mon Dec 13, 2004 8:00 pm

My cooker which I inherited when I moved into this house doesn't seem to get as hot as it should ie 1kilo of beef cooked for 2 hours at 210c was still red in the middle (but not burnt on the outside)and the roast spuds were still pale. Could this be the element failing and if so can this be replaced?
Thanks

Generally, elements either work or don't. Your cooker if I recall correctly has a choice of cooking modes for the main oven - convection cooking through an element under the base of the oven, or forced air (fan assisted) by an element behind the rear panel.

If the oven undercooks in both modes, the culprit is more likely to be the temperature control.

Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Check the oven again Phil, if the element failed half way through cooking it may have still had some residual heat left in the oven.

If it runs cold now, then it probably will be the element.

If not, these ovens are controlled electronically via the timer unit, both temperatre control parts, the timer and the probe are now obsolete I'm afraid, the element though is still available.

I have had a Tricity Sovereign 4638 for some years. The grill and now lately the oven is cutting off once it senses it it too hot leaving food uncooked. This also prevents using them until they cool down. Also it has developed a humming noise when left switched on and the hobs are not in use. Any ideas on what could be causing these problems? Can I get them repaired or is it time for a new cooker?

Cooling fan will be jammed or failed, this allows the safety thermostat behind the programmer to cut in and shut it all down.
