aeg lavamat 16830 E20 problem

Postby bez1 » Fri Jan 23, 2009 3:19 pm

when I look in the front drain filter (with all the water drained out) i can see the impellor whizzing round - does this mean the pump is ok?

I keep getting E20 error for no obvious reason

would appreciate any help

thanks

perhaps you have a partial blockage. I'd suggest you remove the pipe TO the pump and see if water flows through this OK(a kettle or saucepan to dump it in and a washing-up bowl under the pipe are a good idea.

If OK, you could repeat with the hose reconnected and observe the output from the waste-pipe.

If the pump is new...that eliminates fluff.elastic hair-scrunchies etc. caught round the impellor (pump still spins but produces much reduced flow.)

that leaves the outlet -pipe.......remember that a trapped coin can act as a flap-valve and flip-over to block the flow.

AFAIK, many machines will allow a preset time to pump-out, then carry on the cycle. so if the pump can't clear the last lot of water....the next stage still carries on.(or you get an error code :(

Thanks for your help. You'll be glad to know i've sorted it. It must have been fluff/gunge/blockage that you cant see/get to. My solution was to put some washing soda in the drum, pour a kettle of boiling water over it, wait 10 mins then put it on a hot wash. Has been fine since.

except.......now ive got a new problem, with the dryer - dryer stopping around 20 minutes into the drying cycle for no apparent reason, no error code.
