The dishwasher does not heat up during its cycle even though there is current going to the heater while its on.
I have purt an independent cable on the heater and plugged it into the mains and it works, can does anyone know what the problem might be please.

i put my current tracer on it and it lit up.

I take that to be the infamous neon screwdriver or something similar? These are highly dangerous and in any case will only show the presence of voltage...nothing to do with current.
We can never condone live testing by the public let alone rigging separate supplies to components!
Having said that, if you found the element heated when it was given a supply then it can only be a heater supply fault...being an Indesit in disguise it could be a whole number of things from the pcb down.
Power disconnected at ALL times when working on it please

apart from the pcb what else could it be, i am trying to determine if its worth fixing

The only way to find out is with a miltimeter to chase the wiring back from the heater onto the relevant track on the pcb...that will check everything except the pcb itself so if you have a good circuit to and from the heater then that just leaves the pcb itself.

Knowing these machines, if i was a gambling man my money would be on the pcb i'm afraid

Take care, there are two different PCB's dependent upon serial number.

One is around £30, they other is almost twice as much.
