Creda Europa Solar Plus main oven (main oven underheats)

Postby DeeBee » Fri Jul 31, 2009 4:30 pm

The above appliance is failing to get to temperature. Thermostat on unit trips off as temperature on dial turned down from 200°C to ca 50°C. Independent thermocouple shows oven is at ca 60°C. Had new thermocouple fitted 3 years ago which solved overheating problem.

Two questions :
1. Is it likely to be the heating element at fault ?
2. If so, is a new element still available (cooker ca 15 years old)?

Thanks in advance.

Most likely a thermostat problem. Can't answer the other questions without the model number........

Penguin45.
Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Thanks for the prompt reply. On further inspection (removing the back panel in the oven compartment) I can see the element has now completely burnt through (essentially now in 2 halves) so I shall try to get a replacement. It looks like a couple of spade terminals are used to connect it to the power supply. The model no. is 48147S if anyone can advise a source for a replacement element (not sure of the wattage on it though).

Once again,. thanks in advance.

Thanks. New element ordered. Just hope I don't lose the connecting wires in back of oven when changing !
