Zanussi FL1085 washing machine not heating up

Postby geraldferreira » Wed Oct 07, 2009 2:54 pm

Zanussi FL 1085 stopped heating up. Took the back off checked the element and although it measured 22ohms but it showed some leakage to earth, so ordered element from UKW and replaced, but no change, still does not heat up. I checked the thermostat and it measured open circuit, which I presume is correct when cold. Other than not heating up the machine performs all the correct cycles. Is there something I am missing.
Please advise.

Hi.

There should be some resistance across the NTC sensor. If not, that could very well be the problem although I would also suggest you check the air chamber.
Please note: Before following any advice I give above, always isolate appliance from mains electric supply before attempting any repairs. NO LIVE TESTING!

Thank you, is the NTC sensor the thermostat? if so it is definately O/C, I shorted out the leads to it with no change to the element heating up. Both air chambers seems to operate when the water lever rises. I also blew into them and certanly the contacts switched over. But now I think I have really broken it, I decided to pull out all the connectors on the circuit board to clean them, put them back and now no matter what programm you put it on it cycles right through at great speed, not waiting to finish one thing before proceeding onto the next. WHAT HAVE I DONE????

Well, it soungs like you may have a timer fault there. If so, this could now be getting a little pricey. Either that or you have wired it up wrong somehow.

Hi
I have rechecked the connections and I am sure its is connected correctly, maybe I just aggravated the fault on the timer board. I looked up for a replacement on the UKW parts but I didn't see one available. Would you know where I can get one from.
Many thanks
