So far so good, the fridge freezer is working and responds when I alter the thermostat so it looks as if it is fixed. The repair kit consists of a small connector and I think really you are paying for the information as the repair could be done with insulating tape!
Briefly: when you open the control box at the top of the fridge there is a little connector box on the right-hand side with four wires coming out of it. Notice which way up the connector box is before unplugging it and then cut the top wire and the third from top wire (dark blue and dark brown) and join the two ends which are still connected to the connector together (so that they loop back to the connector). Tape up the free ends of the wires and then plug back in. That's it!!
If this is not clear enough I will try to find time to make a drawing. I dont have access to a scanner unfortunately.
I hope that is useful.
