Bosch 7702 Fridge Freezer with faulty fridge

Postby Tarzey » Sun Mar 13, 2005 12:54 pm

I have an eight-year-old Bosch FD7702 fridge-freezer KGU3201/GB in which the fridge appears to have failed.

The first point to note is that the freezer part appears to be working normally.

The fridge, however, usually shows a temperature of 11 or 12 degrees, even when the desired temperature is screwed down to 2. It is in this condition most of the time, but once or twice a day it does cool down to the required 2 degrees. I have the impression (possible quite wrongly) that this has some association with the freezer compressor coming on to work.

I have asked Bosch’s service department (as they are laughingly called) for help, but all they say is that they can send an engineer, who will charge me £60 for the privilege of having him park his van on my drive – and the cost of any repair is on top of that.

Can anyone offer any advice about this fault, and the cost of a remedy? Or should I just put the money towards a decent Liebherr?

The fault could be possibly two things

1/ Faulty main PCB
2/ Faulty divertor valve

I would certainly get an engineer to check before jumping the gun.

part 1 is app £90 GBP
part 2 is app £60 GBP

Regards

The fault is almost certainly the evaporator sensor for the fridge. As the sensor is not readily accessible, you cannot just change it. :( There is a repair solution! A replacement module (263782 IIRC) does away with the sensor by using time to control the fridge evaporator defrost instead of sensor info.
That will be £59.50 please.
