servis m6005 1500 rpm control module burnt on multiplug

Postby tiprat » Sun Apr 25, 2010 6:23 pm

hi, i would like some information on this machine please.
Just been to look at this machine for a relative.

symptoms;
blowing 32 amp breaker in fuse box, (they kept resetting it , Doh) No rcd in fuse box.blown fuse, then machine dead with smell of electrical burning from machine.

Checked insulation from plug, tested ok. 1000v megger.

took lid off and back panel. Top two connectors on multiplug connection on left hand side of board burned out taking part of circuit board with it.

Tested heaters for insulation ok.
tested motor for insulation ok.
removed motor from machine and inspected brushes, very worn and commutator dirty with a few raised polished segments where brushes have been making contact. Windings look ok , not burned.

i need to check the resistance of the motorand armature windings before i do anything else.

Any chance of the resistances these should be so i can test it.

If the motor tests ok, then its new brushes for the motor , a commutatpr polish up. Flying leads soldered on the control board securely connected to bad connections on wiring loom .

or do you think its a lost cause, 6 year old machine, motor bearings a bit noisy, and fault may have damged control board?

any advice appreciated...
cheers , andy

This is a fairly common fault on these modules. The module will have to be replaced and then cut off the edge connector wires one at a time and refit using normal spade connectors.
