Hotpoint TCM65 Condenser Tumbledryer not drying - help

Postby Beckenham » Sat Oct 09, 2010 11:20 am

Hi

We have a Hotpoint TCM65 Condenser Tumbledryer that rotates and goes through its cycles but now does not produce any heat so clothes don't get dry.

Filters are all clean, but the main one you pull out was wet at the far end and tiny puddle of water there, perhaps from wet loads going in that didn't dry the start of when it happened.

Is there a sensor that's faulty? Or simply the heater/condenser has packed up?

The machine doesn't make any bad sounds, no smell of electrical burning, just no heat which is otherwise is just plain odd.

Anyone got any ideas what it could be? We used this site a few years ago for dishwasher problem and the help was amazing.

Thanks

Jon

The condenser ( the thing you pull out from the bottom, its not a filter BTW ) needs to be kept clean, if you lie down on the floor and reach right back into the condenser housing you may be able to feel a build up of gunge. Pull as much out as you can.
The best way to clean the condenser is with a hose pipe or pressure hose in the garden.

The most common cause of no heat is failed thermostats located above the heater at the back.

As always, plug out before opening up.

Part number of stats is C00095566 or 1701583.

Excellent and many thanks, this site is brilliant as ever. Parts on order, hope it corrects problem. I'll report back after new thermos have arrived and been fitted. Fingers crossed as ever it's a minor fault and not a full blown one. At least this weekend has been great drying weather.
