Where to locate manufacture date on a MW511 top load washing

Postby eveandsuse » Sun Dec 12, 2010 2:36 am

Hi
Does anyone know where or how to locate the manufacture year of a MW511 Fisher & Paykel top load washing machine.
It has serial numbers on back- do the numbers translate into a manufacture year?

For example on a MW512 I have, the serial number is DYT565763 and I just bought this today (NZ). How does the serial number tell me it's a 2010 year model?

In respect of the MW511-I've been told it's approx 2 years old BUT it looks 10 years old. I'd like to confirm the year of the MW511 but do not know where to find this on the machine.
Thanks for any assistance.

Moved you to your 'own' forum.

A better chance of an answer in here, just don't mention the cricket.

Kiwi's only play rugby, so unlikely to crop up in conversation I would think. :)

Their cricket team is quite decent and would stuff the Aussies ATM. :P

It wasn't me mentioning the cricket first! But we Kiwi's are world netballers too.
A small country of all rounders I'd say and not just against the aussies. However, I'm no closer to locating the manufacture date on a MW511?
OR is this just a silly (mid)wayoff question?

Not at all, in fact the MW511 has been in production since 2001 so perhaps from your description it may be closer to that date? Is it puckeroo then? :?

No, it's a second hand one-supposedly a trade-in as family grew larger. The guy selling it works as a service guy for an outlet in these machines BUT does these ones on the side. He advertised it as the "Current" model MW511 and claimed it was approx 2 years old. I went to buy it and it was such a wreck-the body inside & out that I turned it down.
At this stage he told me I can confirm the age by decoding the serial numbers on the back.
Anyway, still looking at a few to help the brother out (his has just gone kaput!) so thought it would be helpful to at least know where to find the year of manufacture to confirm the ages of these machines while I'm still looking. My MW511 went kaput which is why I started looking at second hand ones. In the end I just bought a new one as frustrated with driving long distances for 2nd hand and then finding them in a bit of disrepair. The next day after I bought my new one the Bro rang asking if I had a spare.
My Kaput one looks brand new-Just needs a controller board so might just go that way in the end.
However, still interested in where to locate the year on these machines. :?
