F&P GW503 Stops Filling

Postby boyo1 » Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:43 pm

I have a machine that is playing up. On cold wash the machine begins filling at a normal rate with slow drum rotation then the filling slows and stops while the rotation continues. When the cold stops filling if you turn on the hot water tap then hot water runs into the drum which means the hot valve has been turned on or has been on the whole time. The cold will eventually start again but slow down and stop. At this stage the machine beeps and the following LEDs light up or flash - wash cycle hard on; hot, cold and 2nd last wash progress LEDs flash on/off and the last wash progress, the two rinse and the spin LEDs are hard on. I tried the button push sequence advised by Penquin45 for diagnostics but that didn't work. However at one stage the wash progress LEDs did light up in an apparent code. The LEDs from right to left were 111001 or 39. Can any one please tell me what this means or otherwise help.

By the sounds of it you have the machine set to warm and it is trying to mix the water to achieve the temperature but can't due to the cold water been too warm or the hot been too cold.

if the cold light is flashing means no cold
if the hot light is flashing no hot water.

or you could take a picture of the whole display panel before it detects a problem and after.

Hi Ratbag
Thanks for your reply but as stated this issue occurs on cold wash. I'm suspecting a faulty control board but clinging to hope that it may be something simpler and cheaper.

Well the only thing i can think of is the cold temp is set high.
Method of Setting the Wash Temperature
1. Select the OPTION ADJUSTMENT MODE by pressing and holding the START/PAUSE button, then pressing the POWER button.

2. Use WASH TEMPERATURE buttons and LEDs to select the temperature setting to be adjusted, i.e. Cold, Cold/Warm, Warm, Warm/Hot, Hot.

3. Use the ADVANCE button and WASH PROGRESS LEDs to increase or decrease the temperature. Each time the ADVANCE button is pressed, the
WASH PROGRESS LEDs will advance one position to the right. This
increases the temperature by approximately 1oC. When the spin LED is on
and the ADVANCE button is pressed, the spin LED will go off and the left
hand (long wash) LED will turn on. This is the coldest setting. The setting can
then be advanced through again to achieve the required temperature.

4. Select the next temperature range to be changed with the WASH
TEMPERATURE button. Repeat Step 3. Each Temperature range can be
adjusted using this method.

5. To return the machine to Normal operation, press the POWER button.

Have the wash temp set to cold.
On the wash lights you will want the most left one on.
push the power button when done.

Hi Ratbag
Thanks very much for your suggestion. I will try this when I can. In the mean time my daughter (who lives close) will continue bringing her washing around to use our machine.
