Bosch SGS55E12GB/35 mains cable too short

Postby Donboy » Wed May 04, 2005 12:48 pm

My new dishwasher (Bosch SGS55E12GB/35) has a snap in cover over the mains cable connection to the machine - I cannot see how to release it without breaking or cutting the cover but I do not want to invalidate the warranty. Bosch quite sensibly say not to use a trailing extension lead so how do I get access to fit a longer cable - do I cut the cover and then fit a new one (part no. please?) or is it possible to pop the original cover without breaking it
My old dishwasher (Bosch SGS6312GB/07) had a hinged cover over the mains cable connection at the back of the machine, I was able to unclip it and fit a new longer cable with no problems and then snap the cover shut.

Donboy,

The mains terminal block on this machine is very difficult to access, it does however simply clip into position during manufacturer but unclipping the lugs rather awkward to say the least.

If you do not fancy the hastle, then fitting a 13amp rated 3 pin permanent connector is an acceptable option (see illustration below)
