Whirlpool AWZ 541 - Replacing Belt Help Needed

Postby leew » Tue Feb 28, 2012 4:27 pm

Hiya Guys.

I've been given the task of trying to fix my Mams Whirlpool dryer.

I have got the back off and the belt was just sitting on the floor.

I'm guessing the whole plate has to come off in order to wrap around the new belt is that correct?

How does it attach to the pulley/motor??

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Its better to get an engineer out, as there is allot of sharp egdes on the plate, so you can do yourself some harm in attempting it,

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I didnt want to hear that  surely if i get the silver plate off completely any sharp edges would be in full view no? besides i don't think they want to fork out any money on an engineer!!

Do you know how it goes around the pulley/motor?

its easy to fit, take off the sub assy from the cabinet. The belt is tensioned by the jockey pulleys and spring

Thanks for that washtronics :)

Regards that bit, is it pretty foolproof? can you put it through the pulley wrong? just about to order the belt.

when you put the belt on, pull it between the 2 white jockey pulleys and pull them apart so you can get it over the motor pulley then it tensions itself
