Fridge freezer capacities

Postby dave_h » Mon Apr 09, 2012 6:28 pm

As said. Not yer average technical query ,or one on buying a machine, just help on jargon.
Researching possibility of replacement so as to know how much cash to put away for day when present one packs up .
Wife has decided that although the fridge is about adequate, the freezer could do with being a bit bigger.
And there comes a problem. The handbook for present one gives sizes of it in litres ( Gross and net) . But having had a quick look at one or two websites, all capacities are in CuFt.
I could quite easily do a conversion ( or find a conversion engine on line) , but would that really be accurate? Just how are capacities measured ?

Is that nett or gross on the figures quoted my the makers ? And in practice , do the capacities for fast freeze add up to a realistic figure?
As said, why quote for gross /net capacity ?

Not being difficult, just looking for answers ( that blokes in trade can supply ,to another like minded pro in another ,similar field) ,and that the salesmen would not like to answer .
Our aim ,is to get specs on some ,frost free fridge/freezers , and have look round the sellers ,to see which she prefers , given the advice on what to look for. As I've said ,on other posts, I've always looked for an appliance that the repair trade seldom see in for repair.
Any help appreciated .
