Bosch Exxcel 7 WAQ28460GB and Gel Detergent

Postby kryten » Sat May 12, 2012 10:35 am

We have a new Bosch Exxcel 7 WAQ28460GB washing machine which we're just getting to know! The other day we did a mixed load wash with EcoPerfect and the temperature manually increased from 40deg to 60deg. We used Ariel Excel Gel detergent in the supplied dosing cup, put directly into the drum with the washing as per instructions. The washing machine started off by filling up the drum, then a few minutes later emptied thus draining away all the detergent. During the following cycle the machine washed with pretty much clear water while flashing the "detergent overload" warning. Also when feeling the glass during the cycle I'm sure the temperature never got anywhere near 60deg. This is our first machine for about 15 years; so I realise things have progressed somewhat, but this machine just seems to do it's own thing! Any ideas/explanations would be gratefully appreciated.

I wasn't aware you could increase the temperature ABOVE the pre-set temperature?

Mixed Load is 40 degs (max) and the temperature button will allow you to reduce the temp but not increase it (IIRC?)

Try putting the detergent in the soap drawer next time by the way. :D

Hello Martin,

You can increase the temperature above the pre-set.

I emailed Ariel about this and they told me that their gel detergent should ONLY be used in the dosing ball.

Fair enough. Next thought, too much detergent used? If you have a water softener OR live in a soft water area of the UK then detergent overdosing, especially with gel type detergents, could be your problem here.

Hi

Some machines do a short fill and pump out at the start, but not sure about this on the Bosch.
