Creda cold store freezer not cold

Postby Guest » Wed May 25, 2005 4:12 pm

I've got an old Creda Coldstore frost free upright freezer that a friend gave me. It worked fine for a while but then the alarm light came on and wouldn't go off - I've basically had to have it on superfreeze ever since and even then, there's only a couple of drawers that actually stay frozen.

The black thing at the back is very hot - I can hear the usual hum and it seems to cut in and out as normal.

is there anything i can do to salvage it or should I start looking for a replacement?

Any help much appreciated :0)

Old, the last time I saw a Creda fridge Adam was a lad!

It sounds as if the compressor is not pumping correctly and, given that it must be at least 15 years old if memory serves me, I'd call it a day with it to be honest.

I had the same problem.

If you defrost it, then it will work again for a while, but not for ever. An engineer will probably be able to get a part and fix it but the cost will be around £75
