Miele tumble drier (T4262C)

Postby Clenched_buttocks » Thu Aug 02, 2012 9:18 am

Hi there

I am having a problem concerning a Miele tumble drier (T4262C) which is stacked on to a Miele washing machine. It is a few years old but does not get very much use (around once a week).

When in operation drips of water start to run from the condenser unit service panel (bottom left) down on to the washing machine below. I removed the condenser unit to find it very clean and almost entirely free of fluff.

There is a drain hose at the rear which allows the water to be pumped to the condensed water container. Alternatively the top end of this hose can be removed from the machine and connected directly to the waste pipework. This seemed to me to be a preferable method as the pipework is adjacent to the drier. I thought that if there was some sort of problem between the top of the hose and the condensed water container then disconnecting at this point and subsequently running to the pipework would be might be a method of getting round the problem.

As a test I removed the top end of the hose and placed it in a bucket and ran the mahine with simply a wet dishcloth to see that the drier was performing correctly. At the end of the cycle there was a good half litre of condensed water in the bucket and a dry dishcloth so I assumed that the machine was working properly.

Following this I ran a full load and assuming all worked well l would connect the hose permanently to the waste pipework. Annoyingly the machine is actually no longer drying properly with the washing load remaining wet.

I am really perplexed by this. Is anybody able to give any advice as to what could be the problem here, please? Thanks in advance for any guidance.

If you open the door during the cycle is it hot inside, e/g is heater on? There could be a blockage of the ducting/fan & its not circulating hot air correctly.
