smeg oven element

Postby tommo » Tue Jul 05, 2005 1:39 pm

Hi

I have a A1 range cooker (90cm) stainless steel. (approx 6 yrs old)

I think one of the heating elements has gone. the oven doesn't get to temp when using the fan option with the little line underneath.
The grill element, thermostat and fan are working fine so it must the other element (fan element?) - i take it there are only two????? :?

Any help gratefuilly received

Many thanks
tommo

The fan with a line underneath should be fan assisted with base element only (there are three elements, the base one is hidden).

The fan assisted (proper) mode is normally a circle around the fan symbol.

Fan element is by far the most common failure though on any fan assisted oven, if yours has failed, it's this one in the shop:

thanks dave

sorry yes, the fan does have a circle around it and a line underneath
the book says to use this one most commonly as the oven doesn't need preheating
i take it there isn't an option to select the base element on only?
i want to make sure i order the correct one

thanks again

Theres should be a setting with fan element only (circle round the fan) if the fan element has failed, it will be cold.
