bauknecht gsfp 3988

Postby daveyh » Thu Aug 11, 2005 8:53 pm

Hi there ,our 3 year old 3988 has stoppped and is displaying error code f4.
It had developed a rattle over the last week or so that i have been unable to identify other than to say it sounds as to be coming from the bottom reservoir.I know it is just a posh Whirlpool and have attempted in vain to download the instructions but cannot find them in English.
The 12 digit no is 854639815710.
thanks in advance.

F4 is a draining error, the rattling noise is either the pump itself has failed or there is something stuck in it.

With the power off :zap: you could check for blockages/objects in the pump first off. Otherise it's a new drain pump required. Part number 481236018508 at £42.80 inc VAT and delivery.

An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk please if you would like ordered :D

Cheers Dave,I will pull it out later and play the dismantling game.I assume the pump should be fairly accessible with the lid and back plate off.

to add to the above as I look from the front:-
left side:- container full of salt. I assume thats the salt container rather than a pump.
Middle:- bit around the filter
front, centre to right :- electric block
Right towards rear of machine:- could this be the pump.Is it actually removeable from the front?
i'm not trying to bug anyone with this and do appreciate any assistance.

It sounds like it, and yes, but it's easier to drop the base off and lean the machine backwards ;)

The item to the right rear of the machine is the wash pump. The drain pump should be near the front and will have the grey drain hose attached to it.

having looked, stepped back ,thought a while ,cursed a lot I guess you're right DP.So I put the pipe back on the wash pump and laid into the other little one with the grey pipe attached and can't for the life of me get it off.
So I put back together and turned on,it works, noise still there and it definitely sounds as if it is coming from that area.Does anyone know of a special trick to get the pump off it seems to be a straight forward twist but there is a stop/catch behind it I cannot shift.Perplexed.
