Fisher & Paykel 608 stops at spin cycle

Postby mexeter » Mon Nov 28, 2005 12:35 pm

Hi,
I have a Fisher and Paykel Model GW608U that fills OK, Washes OK, Pumps Out OK, Rinses OK, but then does not work when it gets to the spin cycle. Instead of spinning it agitates back and forth. No beeps and only the red spin light on as it should be.

Diagnostic mode gives me (if I have done it right) 00101000 as the error code.

Can anyone tell me what 00101000 is, or have any other thoughts on how to fix?

Oh 'eck - the problem with this one is how to describe the fault.... It's described as a bowl disengage fault. When the machine is full of water, the tub floats up the shaft and the agitator does its stuff. When it empties, it's supposed to drop down onto a toothed drive and thus be driven by the motor. Presumably the load on the motor tells the computer whether the tub and clothes are being driven or not. The water level control can give a false reading to the computer if the air hose is blocked or detatched - alternately the motor control board can be at fault.

Sounds awful complex to me - time for some pro help?

Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Thanks Penguin45,
That helped. I moved the agitator up and down a bit and the bowl just dropped back into place.

But I now get a continuous beeping sound with the Short wash and Spin light on.
Diagnostic says 10010000 (reading right to left on W/M). Please can u let me know what the manual say about this code?

Thanks

Um........ 10001000 is a motor stall fault - it's jammed somehow. 1010000 is the bowl now being stuck in the engaged mode when it should be allowing agitation. 10010000 isn't a valid code.

If turned manually, the drum does spin freely?

That's about as far as I can go - Kiwi and F+P check in regularly, so if this doesn't help, don't panic - they'll pick up on it.

Motor stall is not normally as it says ??
Most comman fault is a short in the motor windings messure the resistance
on the red blue and yellow wires 12 to 13 ohm on eary 01 03 08 models
24 ohm on 09 11 models should all be equel
