This can be repaired, a new display can be fitted. Not sure on the cost without a model number but not a fortune ( job is best left to a pro as high voltage in microwaves can be a killer even when appliance is disconnected )

I'm afraid you will need a new dipslay, general cost £65-70 plus labour. This will have to be done by a qualified engineer.
As it's only 18 months old, it may well be worth contacting Sharp, as they may well be able to help.
