AEG Lavamat L12700ViT dryer problem

Postby R_Stead » Sat Jan 14, 2006 3:12 pm

Machine is 18 months old, dryer used 4 times, never overleaded, but no longer working. Washing functions are fine.

On removing top cover found belt off what appears to be motor for blowing in warm air. Refitted belt but still not working. Seems that either motor has gone or heating elements may have blown due to overheating if motor stopped, or both have gone. :(

Is there a reset switch or kick out relay located somewhere in the machine that I could try? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

PS should have mentioned, both dryer settings appear to operate correctly, drum turns, timer counts down normally, no error codes.

There should be a manual reset thermostat in the top somewhere. Look for a red push button. Power off before sticking fingers in.

If there has been a trip out, it will be because of lack of airflow caused by the belt coming off. A new one is part number 1240827-30/1; an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should you wish to order.

Penguin45.
Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Ended up calling in an engineer. He said the belt was undamaged, and he got the dryer going, and working OK. Unfortunately after a few minutes the belt worked its way off the spindles. The engineer said he did not understand how the spindles could have got misaligned, and that he does not know how to fix the problem. :?

Any ideas please?

Thanks again

One of the pulleys on either the motor or fan unit are poorly manufactured or misaligned, it can't be anything else really :?

Given the little use the dryer has had it all points to a manufacturing defect.

Have a chat with Electrolux (who own AEG):

www.serviceforce.co.uk and see if they can help rectify this for you :)
